You I Love About Me by Anya Kubilus
Being a relationship, or whatever you would call my current situation, has changed my life. It’s changed my life in more ways than I can count.
Caring about someone else, although they are over 1,000 miles away has taught me how to be alone, how to accept comfort through small words on a screen or through a phone call, even when there’s nothing physical happening, you still find comfort in this other person’s voice or the way they type out a goodnight message.
This series was an attempt to show parts of myself. I wanted to show how someone embracing or holding a certain part of you could mean so much to how you view yourself. I have a lot of friends who suffer with body hate. And I find it hard to sympathize because I have never hated my body. I was never taught to hate anything about myself, so having people close to me who have these self doubts daily is something that I have been questioning a lot.
Using the 4x5 camera, I decided to show the parts of myself that I have grown to love even more as a result of being a relationship. There are things about myself that this other person in my life enjoys. Whether it be my humor or the small of my back, this person has taught me how to love myself even more than I have ever thought possible.
This is my 4x5 Final and although I probably won’t take any more photos for it, I’m a very happy camper.
PS: Thanks to Emma for helping me take these. You da best, girl.
